My King and My Shepherd

When I was lost, You came for me. You knew I was missing. Your heart would never beat the same when I was scattered among the wolves. I could have been carried off to some strange and distant land. I could have been torn to pieces. But You searched Your heart for that darkened light. You felt my wandering, and You could never go on without me.

So You came out from Your heavenly throne, and You threw down Your love. You surrounded my hopeless path with a glorious display of peace. How is it I could be so lost, so cold, so empty, so battered, yet know my King is coming for me? You shepherd me. Without me, Your heart sputters on in anticipation. You entice me to come home. Never with a forceful hand, You pull me close. You call my name. You never waiver.

The space You have set aside for me holds the stillest air, and You seek the breeze that You say comes only from me. Finally, I hear You. I feel You. I see You. What is this warmth I feel? It feels like coming home. Could it be that I finally found my way? There You are, and You welcome me in. You hold me there. You won't let me go. Safe in Your arms, we begin the journey home.

You guide my way. You fight the wolves. "This one belongs to me!" You bleed. You protect this part of Your heart. Was it me who was formed to fit that place? You gaze upon my face. Your love reminds me of where I was created to be. Synchronized in our longing for each other, I know nothing would ever be enough without You. You fulfill my desires, and in You life is born, like the sweet breeze of summer.

When I was lost, You brought me home. When I was cold, You made me warm. When I was empty, You filled me with love. And when I was battered, You restored me. How have I never seen it? I was made for You. What part of this life of mine should not forever be Yours? Together, we pick up the pieces of my heart, and with Your blood we seal them back together again. I am nothingness apart from You, my King and my Shepherd.

Seemingly She by Cara Young

Seemingly she was utterly alone as those surrounding her never shared a true commonality of thought. Seemingly she would never find another individual quite like herself within the world she walked. She seemed to walk this world void of connection to the people surrounding her whom consistently stayed just out of arms reach. Not purposely, she viewed those around her as a passerby stream, each individual partially a part of her world and partially out the door heading for another. To her it seemed not one would ever walk alongside her. Seemingly she was consistently and casually looking around as if something was amiss, something was off, something didn't quite fit. Seemingly she was always slightly adrift, always slightly off balance with the spinning dance of those walking around her. Where once she thought these people were real, seemingly more and more they became like toys among her. As she watched them build lives something quite different than she coul...

The Missing Piece

To me, there is no question - God has created humans to have analytical minds, finding joy in solving a puzzle or mystery. We love the thrill of placing the last piece, solving a crossword, or figuring out the plot to a movie before we ever see what happens. Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created us in His image. We hear it all the time, but what does that really mean? I think that it means God is analytical too. I think it means God enjoys watching us and helping us solve problems, piece together puzzles, and just figure things out in this life. I thought about my own life the other day. As I was looking over the events in my mind, I realized something. I am delighted in the moments I have connected the pieces of the puzzle and there found God. I believe He is delighted when I find Him this way too. Like piecing together a puzzle, that little ping of joy when a piece fits together because it was made to be in that exact spot, this is my life with God. So I don't know about you...
